The NSCP offers more than 20 e-learning courses through the Virtual College.

These range from introductory and refresher courses to specific subject areas including CSE, FGM, Domestic Abuse and many more.

All courses have been reviewed and updated for 2020/2021 with some courses being renamed in the process and a number of new courses available. See the course catalogue for full details.

Which e-learning module should I book?

There are over 20 courses available. View the 2020 - 2021 course catalogue here (Printable Booklet here). Practitioners should discuss with their line manager to determine the most appropriate module.


e-Learning courses are free of charge for:

  • Northamptonshire's children's workforce
  • Staff in Northamptonshire's schools 
  • Staff in Early Years settings and childminders
  • Staff and volunteers in Northamptonshire charities and voluntary groups

Timescales for completion and non-completion

Please ensure you only request one course at a time and complete each course before completing a new one. You will have four weeks to complete each course. 

Please note that there will be a charge of £40 +VAT to your organisation for anyone who fails to complete the course within 4 weeks.

Minimum computer system requirements

To access the online training, you will need internet access, an email address, a computer with at least Windows XP or higher or OSX SnowLeopard 10.6 or higher. What do I do if I sign up for the wrong e-learning course?

What happens if I fail an e-learning course?

There is a short test at the end to ensure you have understood the subject. You will be given 3 attempts to pass the test. If you fail all 3 attempts please contact the Business Office on 01604 364036 or e-mail Your agency will be notified that you failed the test 3 times.

What if the e-learning course won't work on my computer?

What if I don't complete the e-learning course within 4 weeks? 

You have 4 weeks to complete the E-Learning Course. If you fail to complete within this timescale you will be sent a reminder. Further failure to complete within given timescales will result in a £40 charge for your organisation.
