Training for the Voluntary Sector

NSCP offers free safeguarding training for staff that work in the voluntary sector and have contact with children and young people.

The NSCP offers 25 e-learning courses through the Virtual College.

These range from introductory and refresher courses to specific subject areas including CSE, FGM, Domestic Abuse and many more. See the course catalogue for full details.

On 6th June 2022 the NSCP have moved to a new Learner Management System, this requires all learners to register for a new account which will offer an improved learner journey. All courses remain the same please click below to begin your new learner journey with the NSCP.

Which e-learning module should I take?

There are currently 25 courses available. View the full list of courses here Practitioners should discuss with their line manager to determine the most appropriate module.

Costs:

e-Learning courses are free of charge for:

Northamptonshire's children's workforce
Staff in Northamptonshire's schools
Staff in Early Years settings and childminders
Staff and volunteers in Northamptonshire charities and voluntary groups


If you don't fall into one of the groups above, you may still be able to access the e-training free of charge - please email us at NSCP@northnorthants.gov.uk to check.


Timescales for completion and non-completion

Please ensure you only request one course at a time and complete each course before completing a new one. You will have four weeks to complete each course.

Please note that there may be a charge of £40 +VAT to your organisation for anyone who fails to complete the course within 4 weeks.


Minimum computer system requirements


To access the online training, you will need internet access, an email address, a computer with at least Windows XP or higher or OSX SnowLeopard 10.6 or higher. What do I do if I sign up for the wrong e-learning course?

What happens if I fail an e-learning course?

There is a short test at the end to ensure you have understood the subject. You will be given 3 attempts to pass the test. If you fail all 3 attempts please contact the Business Office on 07872 148334 or e-mail NSCP@northnorthants.gov.uk. Your agency will be notified that you failed the test 3 times.

What if the e-learning course won't work on my computer?

What if I don't complete the e-learning course within 4 weeks?

You have 4 weeks to complete the E-Learning Course. If you fail to complete within this timescale you will be sent a reminder. Further failure to complete within given timescales may result in a £40 charge for your organisation.
